F.A.Q.

Seeing those “search engine terms” which brought some of you here, I was inspired to do an FAQ just in case anyone is interested 🙂

Below FAQs based on the top 10 key searches in this blog.

Please feel free to leave a comment here if you have any questions relevant to this blog and/or any manga being mentioned here. ^^

=====

1. What are the differences between current and vintage shoujo manga?

Personally, I felt it was the style of story-telling and themes that made the main difference, since in some way, manga does reflect the culture of society and generations at the time. So I guess the manga style representing generation X would be quite different to that of the generation Y.

Anyhow, please do visit Mark Thorn’s blog for his professional opinions since I am not an expert on that matter ^^). In addition, Emily’s “A Peek At Some Random 70′s – 80′s Shoujo Manga” also gave a very good insight on few common styles of those vintage manga shoujo : )

Alternatively, why not visit my “Retro shoujo” (located in the menu bar on top of the page) for more info. ^^

2. Where are the “raws”, “downloads” and “read online”?

Nope. Don’t provide them here.

3. Kaze hikaru new chapters and updates

Actually I am planning to build a new page, dedicated to KH only. So may be (just may be) it will include some updates on latest chapters…..? Will see.

Done. Please visit the KAZE HIKARU 風光るsection for further information. (-> click on the menu bar located on top of the page).

3. Scanlation

I don’t offer scans and/or translation service here. However, if you would like any further information about the manga i have covered here, or would like me to do a review on any of the mangakas featured in this site (see “retro shoujos” -> find mangaka lists of the 70’s/80’s/90’s)…. drop me a line here or email me. I will see what I can do : )

4. Smut manga?

Well… let’s just say most vintage shoujo, which i have come across with, tend to focus more on stories and character developments, and less so on smuts…. Although there would still be some classic shoujos which show/ suggest sexual scenes in their stories (e.g. Kaze to Ki no Uta), I’d never classify those as smut manga.

For whoever’s interests, I have posted my summary on the late western romance manga that I have come across with, some of which include explicit materials of you-know-what (*ehem*).

5. Shoujos about pirates

See my post on “Not so trashy pirate shoujo”….

6. “wanted manga”

… Pardon?

7. Shoujo manga about music/ piano/ bands….

See my post on “[Manga Talk] Music classic shoujos” for classical music genre. At the moment, I have not opened a category for the pop/ band music genre. But I will, when the time comes, i.e. when I have accrued enough [Manga Talk] reviews of those related shoujos in this blog. 🙂

8. OVAs, AMV, etc….. i.e. VIDEOs

Well, I suppose you meant anime/ “music videos” of the relevant shoujo. For those who have followed me from my LJ would know that I have created some Kaze Hikaru AMVs (or “MADs” as fans called it ^^).. Again, as the time comes, when I have “eventually” opened a new page of KH here, there then will be the KH MADs also : )

9. “Old man in tangled up”

Huh?

10. “apple juice manga”

You what?????

    • Hi laubiepie. Thanks for dropping by!
Re review on Niji no Densetsu (I assume that’s what you meant, right? : ) …. you bet I will be doing one at some point here! : )
The thing is I have also few other things lined up for this site… so I guess it’s a matter of when I will be doing it ^^:
Mind you, if you really can’t stand the wait, I’d suggest you to google the title which will lead you to a fantastic Italian website (which I have also mentioned as my references here ^^). Good luck! ^^

      Done. See here.
